Business History 

Establishment

OVOC Solutions was established in 1997 to provide mobile onsite IT services, primarily to commercial clients, targeting small to medium business enterprises (SME). OVOC Solutions also commenced providing a secondary branch of mobile onsite IT services for the domestic market. This consisted of complete custom Computer System Builds, Sales, Repairs, Upgrades, Installations, and Troubleshooting for domestic clients. Hardware, Software, and Consumable Sales were also part of this second branch of services.

In the beginning, its main goal was to provide customised large enterprise type solutions to what was, as it had been observed at the time, a neglected SME market.  Most software and solution development companies, and software vendors, were focused on large corporate enterprises. As a result, the cost of their products, services, and solutions, were beyond the affordability of SME sized businesses.  

By developing solutions using underlying “off-the-shelf” retail products, such as Microsoft Office, which most businesses already had in use, and utilising its inbuilt VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) programming language, OVOC Solutions was able to dramatically reduce the cost of these customised solutions to fit within small business budgets.  OVOC Solutions began offering customised programming, development, and database solutions, that could run on top of the Microsoft Office VBA platform, and be affordable to the SME market. 

Other services offered to commercial clients at the time included standard IT technical services, such as Hardware Sales, Installations and Upgrades, Troubleshooting, Repairs, Networking Installations and Configuration, and Network cabling.  Systems Administration, Website Design and Development, were some additional services offered to commercial clients. 

 

New Millennium and Early 2000s

The start of the 21st century brought in some significant changes to technology, business operations (including GST), and the target business markets. This included the growing popularity of the Internet, and the necessity of an online presence for both commercial and domestic clients. These changes resulted in OVOC Solutions needing to re-evaluate its approach to services offered to both commercial and domestic clients. This involved reclassification of its services, and a realignment of categories of these services to better suit its target markets. All services could now be grouped under two categories: Computers (for all domestic services), Business Solutions (for all commercial services). By the end of the first decade of the new millennium, OVOC Solutions began grouping it services into Computer Servicing, Networking, Consulting & Programming.

 

Moving from Break-Fix to Managed Services

In 2017, OVOC Solutions began migrating its business from a "break-fix" model to a "Managed Services" model.  With the increasing level of cyber security threats, the need for mitigating system down-time and loss of data, OVOC Solutions became aware of some issues and limitations with the traditional Break-Fix Model.

As Managed Service Provider (MSP), OVOC Solutions can provide different tiers (levels) of solutions, customised to suit the requirements of its clients.  We can also monitor client systems for signs of potential problems and address them before they have a chance to cause major incidences, such as a crashed system. We can monitor for attempts at security breaches, or malware intrusions, and deal with these promptly before a client’s data is exposed or compromised.
